Despite heading into the new season with considerable depth, injuries have shown that Barcelona do require more reinforcements, and that is why the summer of 2026 is going to be an important one for the club.
Since the club’s finances are not expected to get better anytime soon, Barça will rely on signing free agents, and that is where Marc Guehi comes into the fray.
The English international has been on Barcelona’s radar for quite some time, with his contract at Crystal Palace expiring at the end of the season.
According to SPORT, acquiring the services of Guehi could be tricky for Barcelona, especially considering the intense competition.
The English international, after all, has also been tracked by the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

Bayern and Liverpool are even prepared to get ahead of the race by making a move for Guehi in the upcoming January transfer window.
The two clubs are willing to pay Palace a premium to sign the defender, before clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona can swoop in with a free transfer at the end of the season.
This doesn’t bode well for Barcelona, who are not in a position to indulge in a bidding war or make any kind of January move for the defender.
Not to mention, the player, for his part, is reportedly keen on playing for Real Madrid. Barcelona, therefore, may have to look at other options as they look to beef up their ranks in defence next summer.
The Catalans are looking at alternatives such as Nico Schlotterbeck, although the Borussia Dortmund star is also expected to cost a fortune.
