Dayot Upamecano is likely to return to action for Bayern Munich in midweek during the Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven.
The French defender missed the last few games due to illness, but he is now back to full fitness and has completed his training ahead of the match.
While his potential return to the starting line-up would be a huge boost for Vincent Kompany, his lack of response to contract talks remains a major worry.

Upamecano has only a few months left on his current deal, and he has yet to sign a new contract extension at Bayern.
Earlier this month, we covered that Bayern were ready to grant Upamecano his wishes, and they have indeed placed a very good offer on the table.
Christian Falk told CFBayern at that time: “It is TRUE: Dayot Upamecano’s future looks close to being resolved. We reported on Upamecano’s contract situation on Wednesday. We think that things will progress very quickly, perhaps we’ll have an official decision by next week.”
However, amid reports elsewhere that Upamecano had agreed a deal, that confirmation never came. Rather, we learned that Upamecano has not responded to the offer.
Last week, Christian Falk explained the situation.
This is the big question on Bayern bosses’ minds at the moment: is there something that they don’t know? Before Christmas, they had the final talks, and everyone was fine going into the new year after so much in the way of negotiations. But they don’t have any idea what’s happening now.
This is the last offer Bayern will give Upamecano; he’s going to get a lot of money and the release clause he wanted. So, the club is thinking, “What more do you want? We’re not going to increase the offer. Why are you waiting?” That’s why, as I say, they’re getting a little nervous.
I talked with Dayot Upamecano himself, and I think he’s quite confident about this deal getting done. So, perhaps the agents aren’t quite so confident at the moment. I’m not quite sure!
Christian Falk has informed CFBayern today that Bayern Munich have issued an ultimatum!
They have told the defender that he must decide by mid-February whether to accept the contract offer that has been on the table since Christmas.
The club feel that they have submitted a very good offer and that it will not be improved. It is up to the player to take it or leave it.
Upamecano is apparently happy at the club and wants to continue under Kompany, but in recent weeks recurring questions have arisen about details of the defender’s salary and a release clause. Upamecano and his representatives negotiated hard, making several demands, and as a result, Bayern have taken a hard stance.
