Bayern Munich managed to beat competition from several Premier League clubs last summer for the signing of Michael Olise. The French forward endured an injury-ravaged campaign at Crystal Palace but still managed to post incredible numbers for goals and assists.

The Bavarian club paid a hefty fee for Palace, but with every passing gameweek, they have been proven right. Olise has seamlessly adapted to the new club and league. He has been one of Bayern’s best players in the final third this season.

Along with helping the team retain and recycle possession in the final third, Olise has also chipped in with 13 goals and nine assists across all competitions. He endured a dip in form at the end of Hirunde but regained his form in the second half of the season. He is on track to have a debut season with 30 goals and assists, which is a commendable output for a young wide player.

Courtesy of his promising debut campaign, Olise has attracted high praise from former Bayern winger Franck Ribery. While talking to Sky Sports during the weekend, Ribery admitted that Olise has impressed him in terms of how he has quickly adapted to the demands of a big club like Bayern.

"He's a very good player. It's not easy when you come to such a big club as a young player and you don't speak the language. He's doing very well. I'm happy."Franck Ribery

The Bayern legend believes that Olise has the qualities to succeed him as the next great winger for the club. Courtesy of consistent performances for Bayern, Olise is getting picked up for the French national team every international break. He will be in action against Croatia later today.

Bayern want to sign another winger in the summer

After seeing the success of Olise, Bayern are ready to further strengthen the wide positions in the summer by signing a young player. The Bavarian club has concrete interest in Jamie Gittens (Borussia Dortmund) and Nico Williams (Athletic Bilbao). Williams has a fixed release clause between €60-80 million in his contract, but Gittens will be expensive since he has several years left on his contract.

The Bavarian club will make space for a new winger by selling Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry. Both players have done well in patches this season, but Die Roten are ready to listen to offers for them. Leroy Sane is also facing an uncertain future at Bayern as he enters the final three months of his contract.
