Bayern Munich ‘to look elsewhere’ if Brian Brobbey costs £34.8m

Bayern Munich could look elsewhere rather than pursue Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey this summer, with TZ claiming the costs to prise him from Wearside are prohibitive. The report states Sunderland value the Dutchman at around £34.8 million and, with three years left on his deal, have no plans to sell.

Earlier this week, The Independent suggested Bayern are monitoring Brobbey ahead of a possible end-of-season move. Despite six goals in 25 Premier League appearances, they are said to admire his physicality, movement and ability to lead the line.

Brobbey joined Sunderland from Ajax last year in a deal worth around £21.5 million. He has since become a mainstay in Regis Le Bris’ forward line.

In Germany, Harry Kane remains Vincent Kompany’s first-choice striker, while understudy Nicolas Jackson is expected to return to Chelsea when his loan expires. That dynamic increases the need for another option up front.

Given Sunderland’s stance and the price quoted, Bayern’s interest in Brobbey could remain tentative.
