FC Bayern made a sporting statement in the away win against Atalanta Bergamo. However, the joy of the convincing performance was quickly dampened. Three players – Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies and Jonas Urbig – are out for the time being, with the situation surrounding Musiala in particular attracting attention
The day after the Champions League match in Italy , the German record champions provided an update on the injured players, stating that all three professionals will have to take a break for the time being. As usual, the club did not provide any specific details on the time of absence, but at least the all-clear was given: no serious injuries have been diagnosed
The official Munich statement reads: „Davies suffered a pulled hamstring muscle in his right leg. Goalkeeper Jonas Urbig has been diagnosed with a concussion. Jamal Musiala is suffering from a pain reaction in his left ankle, which was injured in the summer.“
The situation is being monitored particularly closely for Jamal Musiala. The 23-year-old had to leave the pitch shortly before the end of the Champions League match against Atalanta with a knock and again complained of problems in his left ankle
This is the same area that was badly affected last summer, when the attacking player suffered a fractured fibula and was out for several months
According to Sky, however, it is not a new injury this time. Rather, it is a stress reaction in the ankle. The discomfort had been recurring slightly in recent weeks, but became more noticeable towards the end of the game in Bergamo

FC Bayern are aware of how sensitive the situation surrounding Musiala continues to be, which is why the attacking player is being specifically built up after his long injury break
Such stress reactions are not uncommon in professional soccer – especially for players who have previously had to take several months off. It is now crucial that the club does not take any unnecessary risks
Since his comeback at the start of the year, Musiala has featured in eleven competitive matches, although he has only played one game over the full distance – in last weekend’s 4-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach
Bayern will therefore continue to closely monitor the workload of their attacking star in the coming weeks, but one thing is clear: in the decisive phase of the season, Munich are keen to see Musiala back on the pitch in top form.
