Concerns about Serge Gnabry at FC Bayern are growing. Following his serious adductor injury, coach Vincent Kompany and sporting director Max Eberl have now also commented on the situation – giving little hope of a quick return
The attacking player apparently suffered the injury in a particularly unfortunate way. „Very unfortunate,“ Kompany explained on the sidelines of the Bundesliga match against VfB Stuttgart on DAZN. „I think during the penalty shoot-out or something. It was very, very unfortunate and took us all a bit by surprise.“
The Bayern coach made it clear how much the loss hurts, but was deliberately reluctant to make any predictions. „Serge has done an incredible amount for us. Let’s see what happens now with the injury,“ said the Belgian
At the same time, Kompany emphasized that the squad is strong enough to at least absorb the loss in sporting terms. Nevertheless, the loss weighs heavily – both on and off the pitch

Max Eberl, on the other hand, was much clearer. The sporting director hinted that the current season is probably over for Gnabry. „The season will probably not work out. Everything else is written in the stars,“ explained the 52-year-old
Eberl also expressed his concern with regard to the World Cup: „When you’re 30, 31, you’ve probably got another World Cup to go. I don’t know how much longer he’ll play, but it might have been his last chance,“ he said, adding: „I feel sorry for him because he would have played a very good role for the German team at the World Cup.“
The Bayern boss’s words were eye-opening, with Eberl speaking openly of a „dramatic“ situation – especially from a personal perspective for the player
Nevertheless, Gnabry appeared composed according to the club, even if the disappointment is understandably great
There is a lot of support within the team, with Joshua Kimmich already emphasizing how much the winger will be missed by the team. „We miss him extremely,“ explained the DFB captain
While Bayern continue their title hunt, Gnabry is now facing a long and difficult phase. Whether he will return in time for the World Cup is currently more than questionable.
