Bayern’s Plan for Olise: Is Everything Moving Faster Than Expected?

Michael Olise has long been one of FC Bayern’s most important players. The Munich club wasn’t in a hurry to decide his future—but that could now change.

At FC Bayern, the Michael Olise situation could gain momentum faster than initially expected. The star forward still has a long-term contract in Munich running through 2029, which is why club officials have repeatedly emphasized that they feel no immediate pressure to act.

Now, however, there are signs of a change in thinking. The main reason is the growing interest from other top clubs. Real Madrid, in particular, is said to be closely monitoring the French international and has the Bayern star high on its list.

As transfer expert Nicolò Schira reports, the Munich club wants to push forward with Olise’s contract extension as early as after the ongoing World Cup. According to the report, the 24-year-old is set to be tied to the club long-term and will be counted on even more heavily as one of the team’s key players in the future.

According to consistent media reports, a new contract running through 2031 is on the table. This would send a clear signal from Bayern and shut the door on potential suitors early on.

Olise is expected to earn significantly more

In addition to the longer contract term, salary is likely to play a particularly important role. Olise is currently reported to earn around 16 to 17 million euros per year, including bonus payments. With a new contract, the winger could move into an even higher salary bracket in Munich.

According to Sport BILD, a doubling of his salary is even conceivable. While Schira does not cite specific figures, the offensive player is reportedly set to become one of FC Bayern’s top earners and, in the long term, reach salary levels comparable to those of Harry Kane.

The fact that Bayern now apparently wants to act promptly is quite remarkable. In February, sporting director Christoph Freund had appeared relaxed on Sky and emphasized that a contract extension was not a high priority at the moment.

“But we’re not in a rush right now; we’ve signed a long-term contract with him,” Freund explained at the time. At the same time, however, the Austrian also made it clear just how highly the Munich club rates Olise internally: “From Bayern’s perspective, we can certainly imagine him staying here for a very, very long time.”

It seems Bayern now wants to secure exactly this scenario early on. Since his transfer, Olise has developed into a key player and once again impressed on the international stage at the World Cup.

Interest from Real Madrid and other top clubs has likely increased the pressure. The Munich club knows that with a player of this caliber, they can’t wait too long. Talks could therefore pick up momentum after the World Cup.
