Valencia returned to training at Paterna after the win at San Mamés, which eased their fight against the drop. Attention now turns to Thursday’s visit of Rayo Vallecano at Mestalla, where they want to clinch survival.
According to AS, today was a gym and recovery session for the starters in Bilbao. The positive news is that Lucas Beltrán and Thierry Correia are in the final stages of rehabilitation and could be back before the season ends.
Lucas completed full work on the grass with the group and could reappear on Thursday, with a strong chance of making the squad to face Rayo. The Argentine has missed the last two league games with patellar tendon discomfort.
Thierry will not make Thursday’s game, although his progress is favourable and he is not yet ready for selection. He has set his sights on returning before the season ends and could be available for the trip to San Sebastián to face Real Sociedad.
The Portuguese right back is out of contract at the end of the season and will not stay at the club. He wants to say his goodbyes on the pitch and has two weeks to recover to make it possible.
