Benfica have challenged the performance of referee Bruno Costa after a 2-1 victory over Alverca, sharing fresh footage of disputed incidents on social media.
According to Glorioso 1904, the club posted on X shortly after full-time to highlight decisions they believe were handled incorrectly.
The clips centred on three penalty-area moments involving Rafa Silva, Andreas Schjelderup and Leandro Barreiro, none of which resulted in a spot-kick.
Benfica maintained that infringements occurred in each case and that the refereeing team, led by Bruno Costa, fell short.
Refereeing experts later assessed the footage and judged that only the second-half challenge on Leandro Barreiro should have been penalised, while supporting the referee and VAR on the other two incidents.
The result ended a brief wobble after the draw at Tondela. After 21 rounds of the Liga Portugal Betclic, Benfica sit third on 49 points and await the outcome of the Porto v Sporting clássico with high expectations.
