According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica has moved quickly to contest the media regulator ERC's veto on Benfica FM's licence, lodging a challenge on Friday.
The club laments extensive obstacles and reservations from ERC and says the decision is already having negative financial effects on the Benfica SAD.
In its submission, it argues the ruling rests on mistaken assumptions and should be reviewed. The document outlines the project’s development and notes that, if the veto stands, the station could be available only online.
Benfica cites a sequence of unusual and abusive circumstances, alleging that ERC exceeded its powers and imposed barriers where they should not exist.
It lists interim demands, delays, setbacks and complications, from registering the webradio to changing the domain from Goal FM (Bombarral) to Benfica FM (Bombarral).
The submission asks for a decision that does not refuse the proposed modification to the project, arguing this is needed to safeguard diversity and pluralism, ensure varied programming and uphold free, plural and democratic information.
