According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica questioned refereeing consistency after their 3-0 victory over AVS SAD, sharing a video on social media.
The post contrasted an incident in which Sidny Lopes Cabral’s shot struck a defender’s arm, no penalty given, with a spot kick previously awarded against Benfica after the ball deflected onto António Silva’s hand.
In the message, the club complained that penalties are given against them but not in their favour, and asked what the criteria are.
The earlier handball referred to occurred against Casa Pia on nine November.
The result keeps José Mourinho’s team third on 55 points, provisionally four behind Porto, who host Rio Ave this round, and three off second-placed Sporting, who won 3-0 at Moreirense.
