Benfica will face the loser of Sturm Graz versus Hearts in the Europa League third qualifying round, if they first get past St. Gallen. According to Glorioso 1904, a UEFA draw in Nyon also set the first leg at home on six August, with the return away on thirteen August.

Sturm Graz and Hearts are currently in the Champions League second qualifying round. The team eliminated there will drop into the Europa League to contest this tie.

Benfica are in the competition’s Main Path and would have seeded status if they progress. The Main Path features 14 clubs, with three entering directly, nine arriving from the Europa League second qualifying round, and two dropping from the Champions League via the league path.

Before that, Benfica must overcome St. Gallen in their first official fixture of the season. The first leg is on Thursday, 23 July at 19:00, at Estádio Berit Sitter in Switzerland.

The match will be refereed by Italian official Luca Pairetto, appointed by UEFA. Benfica aim to take a positive result from the away leg to set up the return.
