Benfica have been hit with a hefty fine after supporter misconduct during the Liga Portugal Betclic match with Estrela da Amadora. The federation’s disciplinary council said the club must pay around €16,000, a sanction approved by TAD, citing banners and pyrotechnics at Estádio da Luz.

About €6,375 relates to four banners that were hung in the south end.

A further €9,560 was imposed for pyrotechnic devices ignited in stands 10, 11 and 12, areas designated for the away contingent from Estrela da Amadora.

On the pitch, Benfica beat the visitors 4-0. Vangelis Pavlidis scored twice, with Sidny Cabral and Anísio Cabral also on target.

José Mourinho’s side now turn to Tondela in the 20th round of the league.
