Benfica identify racist fans who abused Vini Jr, ‘to ban’ members for life | OneFootball

Benfica have reviewed footage from the match against Real Madrid and identified supporters responsible for racist abuse of Vini Jr. The club are checking whether those fans are members before deciding sanctions.

According to A Bola, Benfica are considering lifetime bans for any members involved, while non-members would face other measures to prevent a repeat at Estádio da Luz.

Despite the incident, Vini Jr stayed on and secured a 1-0 win for Real Madrid over Benfica. The result means the Spanish side can draw the return and still progress to the Champions League last 16.

The second leg is scheduled for Tuesday 24 at the Santiago Bernabéu, kicking off at 17:00 Brasília time. In Brazil, TNT Sports and HBO Max will broadcast the match.

Vini Jr’s Flamengo now focus on the first leg of the Carioca semi-final against Madureira. The game is set for Sunday 22 at the Maracanã from 20:30 Brasília time, with coverage on Premiere pay-per-view, SporTV and GETV on YouTube.
