Benfica ‘to lift’ Tomás Araújo salary to two million euros net in renewal bid | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica have tabled a renewal for Tomás Araújo worth about 1.7 million euros net per season, with the offer able to rise towards two million euros if talks demand.

Araújo is already contracted until 2029, but the board led by Rui Costa has moved to reward him with improved terms, aiming to secure the continuity of one of the team’s most influential players.

The package surpasses the initial proposal made to António Silva and is similar to the terms presented to Andreas Schjelderup.

The stance comes as the defence is reshaped. With Nicolás Otamendi gone and António Silva close to joining Bournemouth, the number 44 is seen as a reference at the back despite the arrivals of Clément Lenglet and Gabriel Índio.

Araújo is expected to join the captaincy group in 2026/27. Rui Costa is confident of an agreement, though the file remains open.
