Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko has shared some key advice for budding forwards across the world. The Slovenian is among the finest young No. 9s in the world right now, even though he has experienced a slow start to life at Old Trafford.
Sesko joined RB Salzburg in 2019 and, two years later, secured a move to RB Leipzig. He was so impressive at the Red Bull Arena that the Red Devils came calling last summer.
The English giants were looking for a new striker to address their poor output in the final third, having managed just 44 goals in 38 league games last season. United wanted an upgrade on the misfiring Rasmus Hojlund, and found their man in Sesko.
United invested heavily in the attack last summer, also signing Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha alongside Sesko. The decision to spend over £200 million on attack has proven to be a wise one, with the Red Devils managing 56 goals in 31 league games so far.
United’s goalscoring form has enabled them to climb up to third in the Premier League table, with Champions League qualification for next season now a strong possibility. Sesko has been a revelation of late, scoring eight goals in his last 11 games, most of which have come from the bench.
The 22 year old endured a tough first half of the season under former head coach Ruben Amorim. However, the Portuguese’s departure and the subsequent arrival of caretaker manager Michael Carrick have worked in Sesko’s favour.
The Slovenian has now scored 10 goals and set up one more in 28 appearances this season, and is quickly emerging as the player who convinced United to invest a fortune in his signature.

Sesko’s efforts have already earned high praise from former United striker Dimitar Berbatov. The Slovenian has now shed light on the importance for young strikers to stay hungry for goals.
Speaking recently to former United forward Danny Webber, as cited by the club’s website, Sesko said: “As the human beings we are, when you’re scoring always, the hunger to have after scoring is the hardest to do. That’s why I’m also saying to the kids, or when I go to Slovenia in the national team we always do the signatures and they ask me: ‘What are you doing? What would you give me as advice?’”
“I always ask what kind of position they are playing and, if they are a striker, I say: ‘After you are scoring goals, have a hunger for it the next game, even more than you had it before.’ Not being like: ‘I scored a goal so I’m relaxed now.’ Because that’s the hardest [thing].”
The Slovenian went on to state that he had the same habit earlier in his career but has now modified his approach. He added: “I used to have it the same, I scored a goal, so I was relaxed. Then the next game I couldn’t perform.”
“Because I was still [thinking] from the last game: ‘I scored last game.’ This is really underrated, people don’t know it. That’s where the greatest people are made. Always constantly [having] the hunger for goals – they score three, I want to score four.”
“This is the moment where I can improve, to have hunger when I score one, when I score the second, to score the third one, and I’m working on it of course. Because if everything would be completed then it would not be fair for me, I want to learn throughout the years.”
Sesko has displayed maturity beyond his years since arriving at the Theatre of Dreams and already looks like a fantastic piece of business. United now have to ensure they provide the young striker with the right support on and off the pitch to help him realise his potential.
