Newcastle United are rivalling them hard for the Slovenian’s services, and have tabled a second bid to RB Leipzig for the striker’s signature.

The Magpies are in the market for a new centre-forward with their talisman Alexander Isak’s future at St James’ Park up in the air, and back-up Callum Wilson left on a free transfer, joining West Ham.

United want to sign a striker to rival Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, although reports have claimed that the Red Devils would accept a £30m bid for Hojlund.

Now, they appear to be behind Newcastle in the battle to sign their priority target for that central-striking position.

The Athletic report that Newcastle have upped their bid for Sesko to over €80m , which is more than the initial €75m they tabled before.

Fabrizio Romano adds that there are also €10m in add-ons included in the offer, taking the total pacakge to €90m.

United are yet to make a formal bid for Sesko, and risk losing out on their No1 target, with journalist David Ornstein detailing that Leipzig currently favour Newcastle as a destination for their star striker.

The player himself has still not made it clear which of the sides he would rather join, and Romano reports that United communicated to Leipzig that they would only bid if they were certain that Sesko would choose them over a switch to Tyneside.
