Manchester United need reinforcements up top against Bournemouth, given the uncertainty regarding two of their brightest attacking stars.

Ruben Amorim is still not sure whether Amad and Bryan Mbeumo will be available for Monday night’s clash at Old Trafford due to AFCON regulations.

And given United’s poor recent record against the Cherries (not won any of their last 4 meetings), it becomes even more important for the head coach to have his best players available for the game.

Benjamin Sesko, the club’s only senior out-and-out striker, has missed the last four games with a knee injury that he picked up during the game against Tottenham Hotspur.

Benjamin Sesko remains a doubt

There were murmurs that he could be in contention to play against Andoni Iraola’s side, but Centredevils have brought forward a disappointing update on the Slovenian’s recovery.

The ex-RB Leipzig ace, who is also suffering from food poisoning, did participate in a few first-team activities on Sunday, but there were no individual drills for him.

The United striker has done his level best to at least try and make the matchday squad, but the signs are not looking too promising.

There will be a late fitness test to ascertain his readiness after which the Portuguese tactician will take a final call.

Huge blow if players leave for AFCON

“Benjamin Sesko was involved in a few first-team activities with the squad at Carrington today and didn’t train individually like he’s been doing this week.

“Will be interesting to see if Amorim decides to pick him in the squad tomorrow. He’s doing everything he can to be included.

“He’s set to have an assessment tomorrow, but it’s looking less likely he will make the matchday squad for Monday’s game.”

If United are forced to release their stars before the Bournemouth game, Benjamin Sesko missing out would be a huge blow to the Red Devils.

A win on Monday could propel the 20-time English league champions to fifth in the Premier League standings.
