Benzema hails Zidane, says he would be 'extremely happy' if he coaches France

Karim Benzema, now with Al-Hilal, backed Zinedine Zidane amid talk of him taking the France job, saying, "He is a legend, he is like a big brother to me."

He was speaking to Konbini’s Stay or Leave segment.

The French Football Federation is expected to make it official tomorrow, Tuesday, at a press conference at the federation’s headquarters. Zidane is expected to succeed Didier Deschamps.

"Am I happy about him coaching the France national team? I don't know if it's him, but if it is him, I'm extremely happy."

Whether the 38-year-old is considered for an international return would depend on Zidane’s plans and intense competition in attack from Kylian Mbappé, Michael Olise and Ousmane Dembélé. His level remains high, but any recall would be Zidane’s call if he takes charge.
