Manchester City officials have received a final decision from Bernardo Silva over his future at the club, according to reports.
The future of Bernardo Silva at City appears to be reaching a definitive conclusion as his contract enters its final months, with both the player and manager continuing to navigate what is likely to be their final push for silverware together at the Etihad Stadium.
Silva recently fuelled exit speculation during an appearance on the official Manchester City podcast, admitting that while he “truly loves” the club and would stay “until 40” if the team were located in Lisbon, the cultural aspect of Manchester is “not 100 per cent what I would ideally want in my life.”

Despite his desire for a new challenge, Bernardo Silva remains committed to mentoring the next generation, stating, “They can put this club exactly where it was.”
Pep Guardiola has mirrored this bittersweet sentiment, joking that he “sleeps better” when his captain plays to protect his health, but ultimately conceding that “Bernie has to decide what’s best for him and his family.”
Now, according to the information of CaughtOffside’s Mark Brus, Bernardo Silva has formally informed Manchester City officials of his decision to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer when his contract expires.
However, it is highlighted that there is not yet a clear frontrunner in the race for the Portugal international’s signature, with a decision likely to arrive at a later date amid interest from MLS and the Saudi Pro League, but also within Europe.
While specific Saudi clubs are not named, it is pointed out that Los Angeles FC are Bernardo Silva’s main suitors from the United States, while there is some interest in Europe from Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Napoli.
Manchester City will no doubt have to enter the summer transfer market in order to cope with life without the Portuguese midfielder, and have been most strongly linked with Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali.
Both players are expected to attract widespread attention for their signatures from across the Premier League and into the wider European game, while also commanding price tags in excess of £80 million.
It remains to be seen whether the summer’s FIFA World Cup could impact Manchester City’s ability to finalise negotiations for either player, although sporting director Hugo Viana will no doubt be putting in the necessary foundations should interest be concrete.
As for further recruitment, the future of Bernardo Silva’s midfield teammates including Mateo Kovacic and Rodri could yet impact whether City invest further into the centre of the park, although there is currently no indication that either player is being earmarked for an exit.
