Bernardo Silva interest at Flamengo tempered by salary and competition | OneFootball

Flamengo are not in negotiations to sign Bernardo Silva, despite the Manchester City midfielder announcing his end-of-season departure.

According to Paparazzo Rubro-Negro, Flamengo’s football director José Boto considers a move for the Portuguese playmaker an interesting possibility.

His contract expires in June and he will be available on a free, allowing him to sign for any club.

He currently earns around R$ eight million per month at City, while Flamengo’s highest salary is about R$ three million, which could be a major hurdle.

Clubs from Saudi Arabia and the United States often table lucrative offers, and Juventus, Barcelona and Benfica are also monitoring him.

With the window still shut, Flamengo focus on Wednesday 22 against Vitória at the Maracanã, 21:30 Brasília time, in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil fifth phase.
