Bernardo Silva ‘to be’ a free agent this summer amid Barcelona interest | OneFootball

Barcelona are planning a busy summer, with a new centre-back and striker on the agenda, and decisions due on loanees Marcus Rashford and Joao Cancelo after impressive spells at the Spotify Camp Nou.

They will also keep scouring the free-agent market, and Bernardo Silva has been strongly linked. According to Diario AS, Manchester City assistant head coach Pep Lindjers has said the Portugal international’s deal will not be renewed before it expires in June, a development that could aid Barcelona’s hopes.

Lindjers spoke of the story nearing its end, noted there are about six weeks remaining, and said Silva would receive a fitting farewell and the attention he merits.

Silva is understood to prioritise Barcelona and is expected to attract heavy interest now a decision is needed on his next club. His agent Jorge Mendes has begun trying to persuade the Catalan side to make an offer.

However, room for Silva is limited. His position is well covered, and the La Liga leaders are reluctant to sacrifice valuable salary space that is earmarked for a centre-back, a striker and possibly a new left winger.
