When it comes to showing your support for Liverpool, there are more than a few people who don’t particularly love buying the shirts that the players take to the pitch in. There are numerous reasons for this, not the least of which is that they can be incredibly expensive and are renewed at the start of each season, meaning a huge financial investment is required to keep up to date.

As a result, many people will turn to fun and amusing t-shirts that are brought out, both from the football club itself and local vendors. These are often fun and interesting, showing off the Scouse sense of humour that people from Liverpool are known for.

The Official Range

The return of Adidas as the makers of the Liverpool kits has allowed the club to release all sorts of t-shirts that are inspired by classic kits from the club’s past. There is one that pays homage to the home and away kit from 1989, for example, as well as another that looks like the away kit from 1997. If you are a fan of trying to get as much detail as possible into a t-shirt, then you might be interested in the Mashup shirt, which has no fewer than six different shirts patched together from some of the title-winning seasons in years gone by. You can even spend some time amusing yourself by trying to work out which shirt is from which season.

There is a t-shirt that looks to put all of the club’s title-winning home shirts together in one place, alongside the year that the title was won. If you’d rather something a little less subtle and a little more ostentatious, you could opt for the This is Anfield t-shirt, which puts the club crest front and centre with the famous words positioned above and below. The club also looks in the other direction for some significantly more subtle offerings, with the likes of a Liver Bird in just one corner. There is also one that shows the Richter scale movement from when Alexis Mac Allister scored to make it 2-1 and all but secure the club’s 20th title.

Hat Scarf or a Badge

If you’d rather not give any money at all to the club, there are plenty of independent shops that look to offer numerous t-shirts that will both make your life and fill you with pride. One of those is Hat Scarf or a Badge, named after the famous cry of those working on stalls close to the ground hoping to sell you their wares on a match day. In fact, the shop is not far from Anfield, so is easy to head to in order to check out their offerings if you’re near to the ground. A quick look at their website will show you that the likes of Jamie Carragher, Robbie Fowler and Roy Evans have all worn their unofficial merchandise in the past, which is a top seal of approval.

The t-shirts that you can pick up from there are all about nods to the club’s illustrious past, as well as celebrating the current. One of the best ones sees a washing line pinned with trainers, football boots and old jerseys, alongside the phrase ‘Our Favourite Bit of Kit’. There are t-shirts dedicated to individual players, such as the Florian Wirtz one that has a German touch to it, or the Dominik Szoboszlai t-shirt that sees the Hungary flag put onto a lead. Pink Floyd’s album ‘The Wall’ is used to demonstrate the trophies that the club has won over the years. Whatever sort of Scouse-infused t-shirt you’re hoping for, Hat Scarf or a Badge will almost certainly have it.

Love Follow Conquer

The good news for Liverpool supporters is that there are loads of independent retailers out there making amazing LFC-themed t-shirts, such as Transalpino, Up the Reds, Scouse Republic and more. Love Follow Conquer is another one of them, producing t-shirts that often have a vibe that is enjoyably Scouse in its nature, seeing numerous different Liverpool themes added in amongst LFC ones in order to produce t-shirts that are unmistakably linked to both the city and the club. As with other manufacturers, many of the player-specific t-shirts that they produce tend to have a look to them that pays homage to where the player is from.

There is a Florian Wirtz one, for example, that says ‘Vorsprung Durch Wirtz’, which is a nod to the tagline of the German automobile manufacturer Audi. Hugo Ekitike’s t-shirt offers a nod to the player’s palindromic name, having EKI on one side of a T and then IKE on the other side, with the one on the right appearing as though in a mirror. From Liverbirds wearing Liverpool scarves through to what look like airport departure boards featuring the year and city of all of our European Cup wins, there are loads of excellent options that Liverpool supporters are bound to love. Whatever you want, chances are you’ll find it here.
