It was a game of two halves for the Juventus Women’s First Team, who played their best 45 minutes of the season against a tough opponent in OL Lyonnes in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

However, their 3-0 lead at halftime wasn't enough to secure the win, with the French side equalising in the 90th minute with a penalty to make it 3-3.

THE MATCH REPORT

Juventus started the match against the French giants in a spectacular manner, and it was Chiara Beccari who opened the scoring after 11 minutes. She got on the end of Emma Stolen Godo’s pass and hit a cross/shot that ended up in the bottom corner, her first goal in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

That goal gave Juventus the confidence to withstand pressure from Lyonnes, as Amalie Vangsgaard had to make a block on the line and Lindsey Heaps hit the bar with a header.

Massimiliano Canzi’s side continued to defend passionately, whilst also trying to hurt Lyonnes on the counter-attack.

Just before the half-hour mark, Beccari found Tatiana Pinto in the box, who played a low pass to Michela Cambiaghi at the near post and the striker poked home to make it 2-0.

The joy just kept on coming for the Bianconere, and a rampant Pinto made it 3-0 as she got on the end of another Beccari pass, helped by a dummy from Cambiaghi, and finished calmly to give her team a commanding half-time lead.

In the second half, the team had to defend their lead tooth and nail. Fifteen minutes into the second half, Ada Hegerberg's intuition and superb control set up Tabitha Chawinga, who scored to make it 3-1.

The visitors stepped up a gear, but in the 65th minute, after a great move down the left wing, Lindsey Thomas failed to connect properly with the pass from a few yards out in the box.

Sixty seconds later, Pauline Peyraud-Magnin took centre stage with a double save during a prolonged attack by the visitors, the French goalkeeper diving to stop a header from an excellent position.

In the last 20 minutes of the match, Cristiana Girelli came on as a substitute, joining Lisa Boattin on 227 appearances for the Bianconeri, the second-highest number in the history of Juventus Women.

The greatest dangers for the Bianconere continue to come from the wings, and in the 79th minute, Marie-Antoinette Katoto headed home to make it 3-2. The number of corners and set pieces increased as the minutes ticked by, as did the pressure from Lyonnes, who kept a high line, caught the Bianconere offside and immediately tried to break forward.

In the 89th minute, after a cross from the right, Cecilia Salvai slid in with her arm outstretched and a handball was given. From the spot, Lyonnes got their equaliser and the match ended 3-3. The point brings Juventus’ points total to seven points in four UWCL games.
