The Juventus Women’s First Team’s Serie A Women campaign got off to a disappointing start, with the Bianconere drawing 0-0 away at Sassuolo on Saturday evening despite having a host of good chances.

THE MATCH REPORT

It was a hard-fought and evenly matched first half in Sassuolo. The Bianconere created their first clear opportunity in the 21st minute with Abi Brighton, whose shot from the edge of the box forced Solene Durand into a difficult save. Ten minutes later, Paulina Krumbiegel was caught offside after hitting the crossbar from an excellent position, while in the 41st minute, Chiara Beccari tried to spark something, but found the Sassuolo goalkeeper in her way.

The match remained deadlocked in the second half, with Massimiliano Canzi trying to bring on fresh legs from the bench by sending on Barbara Bonansea and Emma Stolen Godo. Just under halfway through the second half, Juventus created their best chance so far, with Emma Kullberg crossing and Beccari heading the ball against the base of the post.

Soon after, Bonansea tried her luck with a lob from 20 metres, but Durand was equal to the task. Amalie Vangsgaard and Tatiana Pinto came off the bench, with the former immediately testing the Sassuolo keeper with a shot.

However, the match remained level until the end, with Juventus' hopes fading away when Michela Cambiaghi missed a header from an excellent position in the 95th minute.
