Away at the champions on Sunday

Thomas Letsch said it after the home win in the UEFA Europa League: "There's no better confidence booster than a win" We've even managed to rack up several of them – four wins in a row across all competitions, to be precise. Things are rather different for our upcoming opponents, SK Sturm, who we visit this Sunday 9 November at 17:00 CET in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga. The Graz side have only managed to win one of their last five matches – a cup game against second-tier Admira Wacker Mödling – and even that only came in a penalty shootout. In the Bundesliga, they've recently suffered two defeats against WAC and Rapid Vienna, while in Europe they at least managed a goalless draw against Nottingham Forest in the Europa League this past Thursday.

In the domestic league, Jürgen Säumel's team are three points behind us (with one game in hand) and recently even slipped to fourth place. Even more surprising is that the Styrians have lost the most ground at home. In the home table, Sturm are, remarkably, bottom of the league. The Black and Whites have only managed to win one of their four matches in Graz, losing three.

However, this shouldn't lead us to be complacent at all. On Thursday, especially in the second half, we saw how we can be successful. With momentum behind us, it should be even easier to deliver another top performance. After all, it's been a while since our last victory against SK Sturm. In the regular season last year, our Red Bulls achieved a fantastic 3-1 home win on 2 March. Unfortunately, nothing went right for us in the first half of this season, and we suffered a 0-2 defeat – making it time for revenge!

Not available for the match are Takumu Kawamura (knee), Karim Konate (knee), John Mellberg (knee) and Karim Onisiwo (pelvis).
Kerim Alajbegovic (ill recently), Mads Bidstrup (thigh) and Alexander Schlager (hip) are doubts.

Views

Naturally, we've gained a lot of confidence from our recent successes, whether in the league, the cup, or, most recently, the Europa League. The match against Go Ahead Eagles also provided us with valuable lessons that we intend to put into practice. We're therefore looking forward to the top-of-the-table clash on Sunday against Sturm Graz. To conclude this run of fixtures, and just before the international break, we travel to face the reigning champions as league leaders. Of course, it will be a tough challenge - they haven't won the title twice in a row for nothing. Our goal is to continue our winning run and maintain our position at the top of the table.

When you come to face the reigning champions as league leaders, it's naturally the biggest match of the weekend and something everyone can look forward to. We've been very successful lately and have picked up a lot of points. Now we naturally want to continue this run against Sturm Graz. It's also about time we beat them again. We want to achieve that on Sunday with plenty of energy and determination.
