After winning promotion back to the Barclays Women’s Super League, Birmingham City are set for a big summer rebuild with several key player departures confirmed.
The Blues confirmed that eight players will depart the club following the conclusion of the season, with three loan players returning to their parent club. This marks the end of an important chapter after a successful campaign in the WSL2.
Experienced Republic of Ireland international Lucy Quinn and club captain Christie Harrison-Murray are two of the biggest exits.
Quinn has been an important player for the Blues both on and off the pitch. Known for her creativity, work rate and leadership, she became a key figure during her time at the club. Quinn regularly stepped up in big moments and brought experience to a side fighting to return to the top flight.
Harrison-Murray will also be departing, bringing an end to her time as one of the leaders within the squad. As captain, Harrison-Murray played an important role both on and off the pitch, helping to guide her team throughout the entirety of the season.
Her leadership and experience were key in Birmingham’s promotion campaign. Losing the captain who led them to promotion will be another major change as the club prepares for the WSL.
Goalkeeper Adrianna Franch will also leave the club after joining during the season, while Lily Agg, Michaela Kovacs, Poppy Irvine, Shanade Hopcroft and Tegan McGowan are also departing.
The departures mean Birmingham are expected to be very active during the summer transfer window as they prepare for their return to the top flight.
