FLW has rounded up the latest transfer news at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park

The start of the transfer window has been very busy in terms of the news surrounding Birmingham City, as Chris Davies' side hope to push further towards the play-off places between now and May.

With his side currently 14th in the Championship and seven points behind Watford in sixth, the Blues boss will still believe there is every chance that said gap can be bridged throughout their remaining 20 league fixtures.

At present, the Second City side have made a solitary, yet, important, addition to their ranks in the form of 28-year-old German left-back, Kai Wagner, from Philadelphia Union, whilst three players have departed thus far in the form of Dion Sanderson, Emil Hansson and former Brighton loanee, Eiran Cashin.

There are exactly three weeks left until the close of business at 7PM on Monday, February 2nd, with it being widely discussed in the lead-up to, and throughout the window, that Blues must oversee a successful window if they are to stand a chance of breaking into the top six after an inconsistent first half of the season.

Football League World understand that as many as eight first-team players could depart St. Andrew's in that timeframe, whilst Davies and his director of football, Craig Gardner, continue to push for incomings that will bolster his squad in key areas.

With that being said, here is a round-up of the latest transfer news in B9.

Blues see deal for Mjallby AIF's 7-goal forward Abdoulie Manneh collapse

There is no other place to start other than the breaking developments that have seen Blues' pursuit of Abdoulie Manneh from Swedish Allsvenskan champions, Mjallby AIF, collapse, as FLW exclusively revealed on Tuesday morning.

Manneh had previously seen his signature courted by several sides in the Premier League and Championship, including Coventry City and Stoke City. However, it seemed as though the one-time Gambian international was on his way to St. Andrew's after a permanent switch had initially been agreed, as reported by sister title, GiveMeSport.

Manneh was scheduled to undergo a medical in the West Midlands on Monday ahead of the transfer's completion. However, FLW understand that an 11th-hour twist has emerged and presented a significant stumbling block in the deal.

It is unclear as to what the root cause of the stalemate stems from, but unless a swift turnaround occurs, a deal for the highly-rated prospect is off the cards and will not be revisited.

Such developments have also impacted Lewis Koumas' future, as they could delay an expected return to Liverpool for the 19-year-old, despite the fact he has started the past two games in league and cup.

How much money Birmingham City will pay Girona for Jhon Solis revealed

Whilst the aforementioned developments will be a cause of frustration, Blues are reportedly closing in on a deal for Girona's Colombian midfielder, Jhon Solis, after fending off competition from Liga MX side, Tigres UANL.

The 21-year-old will add further depth to a midfield department that already includes Paik Seung-ho and Tommy Doyle, and the way in which the ambitious club are hoping to structure the deal has now been revealed.

With it initially being claimed that Solis would be the subject of a £4m+ transfer, Spanish outlet, SPORT, have since reported that an initial loan fee of €500,000 (£430,000) has been struck, and that the man who has made 49 appearances for the Catalan side could become a permanent member of Davies' squad if specific conditions are met.

The aforementioned report states that a permanent deal is an initial option for Blues at a figure of €8m (£6.9m), although the deal will become mandatory if Solis makes 11 appearances in royal blue.

Plenty of exit talk has surrounded Blues striker, Lyndon Dykes, in recent times, and another one of Blues' divisional rivals have entered the race for his signature.

The 48-time Scotland international has already become a permanent target for Charlton Athletic in this window, as well as being a reported loan option for Ipswich Town.

However, it is now being claimed by the Daily Mail that Leicester City are also plotting a temporary move for the 30-year-old, who is hoping to secure a spot in Steve Clarke's FIFA World Cup squad.

FLW did, however, exclusively reveal last week that a potential exit for Dykes would not be sanctioned until Davies can add fresh reinforcements to his attack, meaning a deal could be confirmed later in the window.

However, a move to the King Power Stadium would see the experienced forward reunite with his ex-Queens Park Rangers chief, Marti Cifuentes.

GiveMeSport have also reported that Birmingham will discuss a permanent move for Brighton loanee, James Beadle, at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old shot-stopper's initial loan agreement with Blues included no further clauses that could activate a long-term transfer. However, Davies has stated that there is the potential for a deal to be struck.

The England youth international didn't make his first league appearance until the 1-1 draw with Wrexham on October 3rd, and has since made 19 appearances in all competitions, accumulating three clean sheets thus far.

When asked about the potential of Beadle moving to the Midlands in the long-term, Davies said: “It’s very possible - I think James is relaxed about it - we are.

“He’s happy, he’s playing. Brighton are happy with it, too.
