Kicker reports that Werder Bremen and Birmingham City have worked out a relatively easy transfer for Marvin Ducksch. The 31-year-old will move to the EFL Championship side for a €2m base-transfer-fee. Some additional performance bonuses are tacked on. The Dortmund-native appears set for a Bundesliga departure
Kicker initially lent little credence to the Ducksch rumors when they began cropping up a couple of weeks ago, but now emphatically states that “all signs point to a deal being completed.” The German magazine also has new news to report on Werder’s quest to acquire RB Leipzig striker André Silva on a permanent basis.
While there has – per Kicker – there has been “no new movement” in talks between the two clubs, Ducksch’s departure certainly provides fresh impetus for werder to get the deal done. The Hanseatic club’s acute need for a lead striker, combined with a raft of injuries in the attacking corps, might see a Silva purchase wrapped up quickly.
