Barnsley chairman Neerav Parekh insists the club will not sell Blackburn target Reyes Cleary 'on the cheap' in January.
Barnsley chairman Neerav Perakh insists Reyes Clear will not be sold ‘on the cheap’ - with Blackburn one of two Championship clubs to have a bid rejected for the forward.
The 21-year-old joined the Tykes from West Brom on a permanent deal in the summer, and he has been a major positive for Conor Hourihane’s side this season.
Cleary has flourished since moving to the left-side of the attack, and he has enjoyed a very productive campaign so far, scoring five goals and registering six assists in 17 League One games.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that clubs higher up the EFL are starting to take notice of Cleary, and it has been reported that Blackburn have had a bid rejected for the player.
However, they aren’t the only club tracking the ex-Albion man, as the Barnsley Chronicle explains that Perakh told a fans' forum that the Yorkshire outfit have already turned down multiple offers for their key figure, and he is adamant Cleary won’t depart for less than their asking price.
“We've turned down four bids for Reyes already from two different Championship clubs. So we're not going to sell on the cheap. We're very sure that our best players should stay here. There's a price for everyone, obviously.
“But the myth that we're a selling club, and we'll sell at any price, I think, is a bit outdated. We will sell if the price is right, like every club all the way up to the best clubs in the world. But we're not going to sell just for the sake of it.”
Meanwhile, the Lancashire Telegraph suggests a move to Ewood Park is seen as ‘unlikely’ given Rovers have already failed with their bids for Cleary.
Cleary has had a very good few months for Barnsley, and his man-of-the-match performance against Liverpool in the FA Cup is going to have increased his profile.

In that game, we saw Cleary at his best. He was powerful when in possession, he always looked to beat his man, which he often did, and he was a constant threat with his movement and willingness to run in behind.
To do that against the champions of England was very impressive, and it justifies Barnsley’s stance here that they are not willing to sell for any price.
As Perakh says, every player has a valuation, and it would be naive for Barnsley to insist he won’t be sold, but they must get the best possible deal for the club, as Cleary would be missed if he did depart.
Realistically, it’s hard to see him staying beyond the January window, even if a move to Blackburn doesn’t seem to be on the cards. But, whoever does bring him in will be getting an exciting talent, and Hourihane must be given the funds to reinvest.
