Blackburn Rovers Women will play in the fourth tier of the football pyramid the FA has confirmed.
Rovers dropped out of the revamped second tier, known as WSL2, and will now compete in the National League Division One North alongside the likes of Leeds United, Wythenshawe, and Chester-le-Street.
Rules dictated that Rovers could only be placed two divisions below their previous league, which has meant that Sheffield United – who finished bottom of the final 'Championship' season – will remain in the second tier and play in the WSL2.
Burnley had applied to take their fellow Lancashire's side place in the league but the FA have decided to keep the Blades in their league due to regulations.
Like Sheffield United, Halifax have also been granted a reprieve and will instead remain in the Northern Premier Division for the 2025/26 season.
