Gent have announced that young English striker Max Dean is set to miss the remainder of the season. The 20-year-old suffered an injury during the sides recent 3-1 defeat to Union St Gilloise on boxing day. The injury means that Gent will now be without their top scorer for the remainder of the season, with Dean leading the side on five goals in the Pro League during this campaign.
Dean joined the side from MK Dons in the summer, having scored an impressive 19 goals in 34 games for the side during their League Two campaign. He had joined them from the Leeds United academy in January of 2023. In one and a half season for the Dons he scored 20 goals in 43 games. Since joining Gent in the summer Dean has gone on to score 13 goals in 30 games. Three of these have come in the cup with the other four in the Conference League. Of the strikers signed by the Buffaloes in the summer, Dean has been the most successful with the lowest expectations.
