Boca Juniors will be backed by away fans at Defensa y Justicia on Thursday after local authorities reversed an initial refusal on safety grounds for the Torneo Apertura 2026 fixture at the Norberto Tito Tomaghello.
Fresh from a Superclásico win at River’s Monumental, Claudio Úbeda’s side head to Florencio Varela for matchday 16. Earlier today, Defensa y Justicia president Diego Lemme said, “The chance of playing with away fans against Boca is 100% off.” He added that it was a security decision he did not share, noting there had been no trouble previously and citing school-related threats as the concern, calling that understandable, he told D-Sports Radio.
Following those remarks, Lemme met local authorities and, after several hours of talks, an agreement was reached for visiting supporters to attend. Around 3,000 tickets will be allocated to Boca fans.
The match is scheduled for Thursday 23 April at 20:00 in Florencio Varela, with the away allocation sure to sell out.
Boca are chasing three crucial points. They have 24 points in Zone A of the Apertura and a win could seal a place in the playoffs.
While also keeping an eye on the Copa Libertadores, Úbeda’s team remain among the leading sides in the section, pushing to secure a privileged position and gain sporting advantage in the next phase.
