Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s return as Boca head coach signals a structural shift in how the club will handle the upcoming transfer window.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the head coach will have direct and decisive influence on targets and negotiations. That breaks with the Riquelme era model managed from the boardroom by the president and the Football Council, now fronted by sporting director Marcelo Delgado.

Arruabarrena wants the authority to define not only weak positions but the exact players to pursue as he shapes his second spell. The club will prioritise the head coach’s exclusive requests in this window.

Whether this new alignment between dugout and hierarchy produces high calibre additions remains to be seen.

With limited time to shape the squad, the initial aim is to settle the staff and resume training. Pre-season begins on 18 June at the Ezeiza Training Centre.

Arruabarrena, who won the league title and the Copa Argentina in 2015, will lead Boca into their first official match at La Bombonera against O'Higgins, the Copa Sudamericana round of 32 first leg, on Thursday 23 July at 21:30. The return is in Chile on Thursday 30 at the same time.
