Gino Pivatelli, a midfielder turned striker of the 1950s, passed away yesterday at the age of 92. A true star, he ranks fifth in Bologna FC’s all-time top scorers list.

At Bologna from 1953 to 1960, Pivatelli is the second-highest post-war scorer for the Rossoblù, scoring 109 goals in 204 appearances. His goal-scoring progression was impressive: 11 in his debut season, 17 in his second, and 29 in his third, when he won the top scorer title with a record that remains unmatched by any Bologna player from the 1930s to today. After seven seasons, he was transferred to Napoli, but it was at the end of his career, with Rocco’s AC Milan, that he enjoyed his greatest triumphs, winning both the Serie A title and the European Cup.
