It was a perfect Sunday for Bologna Women and all about the number four: a 4–2 win over San Marino Academy marked their fourth consecutive victory (including the Coppa Italia) in Matchday 4 of Serie B Femminile. Thanks to goals from Martiskova, Tironi, Rognoni, and Tardini, the rossoblù move level with Brescia and Como 1907 at the top of the table on 10 points.
Tironi’s shot against the crossbar in the 3rd minute wasn’t enough to shake the Titane, as Fracas put the hosts ahead in the 8th minute with a volley from inside the box. But Bologna kept creating chances in the final third: Limardi produced a superb save to deny Martiskova, while Giovagnoli and Fusar Poli both went close from corner situations. The well-deserved equaliser came in the 22nd minute, when Tucceri Cimini found Martiskova in the area, scoring her third goal in as many games. Once again, though, Bologna were caught out at the back: Giai brought down an opponent in the box, sending Sechi to the spot, and she made no mistake to make it 2–1. In a back-and-forth first half, Tironi joined the action in the 35th minute with a brilliant curling strike that found the far post, before Rognoni turned the game around just before halftime to make it 3–2.
There were even more chances for the rossoblù in the second half. Tucceri Cimini hit the crossbar and Rognoni headed just wide, until the 4–2 goal put the game to bed. Tardini scored from outside the box on the volley to produce her second wonder strike of the day to put secure the win.
Notes:
Michaela Martiskova scored her second league goal, her third of the season and in consecutive matches.
Carolina Tironi scored for the second time this season.
Alessia Rognoni is now the team’s top scorer in the league, now on three goals.
First goal of the season for Sara Tardini, her second in Bologna colours.
The next match is scheduled for Saturday, October 11 at 15:00 CEST, as Bologna face Lumezzane in the weekend’s opening fixture.
