Sport Bild reports that Borussia Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac is open to bringing Jadon Sancho back to the club in the summer.
The winger’s contract at Manchester United expires in the summer, five years after he left the Westfalenstadion for €85m in 2021, bringing to an end a horrible spell in Manchester that saw him leave on loan three times to Chelsea, Aston Villa and a six-month stint at Dortmund, where he reached the Champions League final.
The plan under head coach Kovac is, from next season, to switch to a formation that uses wingers, over the current one, which favours attacking midfielders. This has opened the door for Sancho to potentially return for the third time.
Sebastian Kehl is the driving force behind the move, and now Kovac and Ricken has opened the door for the move, making the move ‘more concrete’.
If Sancho does return to the Bundesliga for a third time, then he will have to take a pay cut. The 25-year-old currently earns €15m in the North West of England, and in Dortmund, a salary of €7m is said to be enough for the winger.
A return to Germany would also require Sancho to improve his discipline to work under Kovac.
