Borussia Dortmund ‘monitoring’ Folarin Balogun amid Guirassy uncertainty

Borussia Dortmund are understood to be monitoring Monaco and United States forward Folarin Balogun, Bild reports.

Balogun is viewed as a possible replacement for Serhou Guirassy, who could depart this summer. Dortmund expect the Guinea international to stay, but interest from a top club could trigger his reported €38 million release clause.

Dortmund’s top target remains Hoffenheim’s Fisnik Asllani, a player sporting director Ole Book knows from their time together at Elversberg.

RB Leipzig are also interested in the Kosovo international, who has a €30 million release clause and is expected to make a decision soon.

If Guirassy leaves and BVB miss out on Asllani, Balogun could come into sharper focus. The USMNT forward has three World Cup goals and is under contract with AS Monaco until 2028.
