Borussia Mönchengladbach to sign Japanese international Daiki Hashioka, Zento Uno begins integration | OneFootball

Borussia Mönchengladbach are reportedly close to signing Japanese international Daiki Hashioka in response to the injury suffered by fellow summer arrival Yukhym Konoplya. Sky Germany – as relayed by transfermarkt.de – reports that Gladbach have reached an agreement with Slavia Prague on a loan containing an option to buy. The 27-year-old right-back is expected to undergo his medical examination on Thursday.

Hashioka would become Gladbach’s eighth summer signing and their second Japanese addition after defensive midfielder Zento Uno. The 12-times-capped international spent last season on loan with KAA Gent, making 17 appearances. In addition to right-back, Hashioka can operate in central defence or farther forward on the right flank.

His versatility should prove useful after Konoplya suffered a partial tear of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee during Gladbach’s 2-1 friendly victory over Rot-Weiss Essen. The Ukrainian international is expected to remain unavailable for approximately two months and will miss all team sessions during the club’s Tegernsee training camp.

Zento Uno begins Gladbach integration

Uno, meanwhile, completed his first team-training session on Tuesday. The 22-year-old participated primarily in drills involving limited physical contact and is expected to gradually increase his workload before the training camp.

Gladbach have assigned interpreter Atsushi Waki to assist Uno during tactical meetings and training sessions.

“With a translator, we can ensure that our messages come across exactly as we intend them to,” head coach Eugen Polanski said.“We’re using this week to ease him into the workload so that, ideally, he’ll be able to participate fully at training camp.”

Gladbach will face Hansa Rostock before travelling to Rottach-Egern. Friendlies against local side FC Rottach-Egern and Bundesliga rivals Hoffenheim will follow.

The Foals have invested approximately €12.5 million in new players while generating €21 million through sales. Further departures remain possible, with Nathan Ngoumou, Tomas Cvancara and Florian Neuhaus among the reported candidates.
