Botafogo has launched legal action against Olympique Lyonnais, seeking to recover €125 million it says are owed.

The club said in a statement on Saturday that it had filed a complaint and would take all appropriate legal steps to recover the sums due and safeguard the continuity and strength of its sporting project.

The stand-off between John Textor and Lyon is intensifying. Botafogo accuses Lyon’s new presidency of a unilateral breach of a collaboration agreement, set against internal tensions within the Eagle group.

The complaint references successive financial contributions totalling more than 745 million reais, 125.5 million euros, made as loans, with an expectation of repayment under previously agreed terms.

This is the latest chapter in a dispute that appears far from a resolution.
