The Cherries will see their highly-rated Basque manager leave this summer when his contract expires at the Vitality Stadium.

Iraola, who has been in the Dorset dugout since 2023, has impressed during his time at the club, with Bournemouth currently 11th in the Premier League table.

It has led Bournemouth to move quickly to find a replacement, and it is widely reported that Rose, the former Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig boss, will take over the reins on the south coast from next season.

Rose, 49, is believed to have emerged as the frontrunner due to his style of play and footballing philosophy.

The German has been out of work since he was sacked by Leipzig in March last year.

Iraola joined the Cherries from Rayo Vallecano back in June three years ago, and he announced his decision to depart earlier this week.

Speculation over his future had been growing throughout the campaign, as Bournemouth continued to exceed expectations in England’s top flight.

As such, it has meant that Iraola has been linked with several high-profile managerial jobs, including Manchester United.

The position at Old Trafford is up for debate, with Michael Carrick currently overseeing the Red Devils until the end of the campaign.

Carrick remains favourite for the job, having guided United to third in the table after a dreadful start to the season led to Ruben Amorim’s sacking back in January.

However, United have wobbled in recent weeks, leaving Carrick’s position uncertain, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, one of United’s co-owners, refused to confirm whether the interim head coach would get the role full time.

Iraola remains a potential candidate, but he has also been linked with the Real Madrid job, or a return to Athletic Bilbao, where he spent the majority of his playing career as a right-back.

Liverpool and Newcastle United are also potential destinations for him amid uncertainty over Arne Slot and Eddie Howe’s futures at Anfield and St James’ Park.
