After completing a domestic cup double on Saturday, Manchester City resume their pursuit of Premier League glory with a trip to the south coast to face AFC Bournemouth.
Saturday’s action saw Manchester City beat Calum McFarlane and Chelsea 1-0 in the FA Cup final, completing yet another double. The win marked City’s eighth time being crowned winners of the oldest cup in football.
The final proved to be a tense and closely contested affair, with both sides creating opportunities to break the deadlock. However, it was City who ultimately found the decisive moment.
That moment arrived in the 72nd minute courtesy of Antoine Semenyo. Erling Haaland’s cross found its way to the Ghanian winger, who produced a moment of magic by cleverly back-heeling the ball beyond Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez to hand City a deserved lead.
From that point onwards, Manchester City stood firm defensively, comfortably dealing with everything Chelsea threw their way and restricting the south-west London side to no shots on target throughout the contest.
With Semenyo’s strike ultimately proving decisive, outgoing stars Bernardo Silva and John Stones lifted the trophy together at full-time – potentially their final piece of silverware in City colours, barring any late slip-ups from Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Guardiola’s side must now bring their full attention back to the title race as they continue to put the pressure on league leaders Arsenal going into the final week of the season.
Up next is a trip to the south coast where the Blues will face Bournemouth, who are undefeated in their last 17 matches in all competitions – with eight wins and nine draws – with no loss since Semenyo left them to join City for £65 million in January.
Five Things Learned: Chelsea 0-1 Manchester City (FA Cup Final)
That record is one Manchester City will be hoping to bring to an end, although it will no doubt be anything but straight-forward. Their last match was a 1-0 away win against 13th-placed Fulham, with Rayan scoring the winner.
Andoni Iraola‘s men secured European qualification on Sunday without even kicking a ball as Brentford lost to Manchester United, making a top eight finish for the Cherries a guarantee.
With that said, Bournemouth will still want to upset Manchester City as much as ever, with UEFA Champions League qualification still possible if Liverpool give them leeway to capitalise on in the final two matchdays of the Premier League campaign.
For City, three points is the only option if they are to maintain any hopes of lifting the Premier League trophy against Aston Villa on Sunday.
With a better goal difference than Arsenal, three points at the Vitality Stadium would put City in the best possible position to capitalise on any slip-ups from the Gunners.
With plenty at stake for both sides, here is everything you need to know ahead of Tuesday night’s clash on the south coast!
Bournemouth will host Manchester City at the Vitality Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 19:30 UK on Tuesday 19 May.
Anthony Taylor will oversee Tuesday night’s Premier League action. The last time he refereed a Manchester City match was the monumental 2-1 win against Arsenal in April.

Pep Guardiola currently finds himself with the best kind of selection headache, a fully fit squad. Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias have recently returned to fitness, with Gvardiol making his first start since January in last week’s 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Rodri also made his return in the FA Cup final on Saturday, starting from the off after missing the previous five games with a calf injury sustained against Arsenal in April.
For Bournemouth, Lewis Cook is a doubt but a final decision on his fitness is set to be made ahead of the game. Ryan Christie will be unavailable for this one after being sent off in last week’s win over Fulham in London.
On ‘how he is feeling about this week’: “Bournemouth, Bournemouth, and Bournemouth. 16 or 17 games unbeaten, their run is unbelievable! We have to break their (Bournemouth’s) run, otherwise it will be over!”
On whether he will watch Arsenal vs Burnley: “I don’t know. Maybe, yeah, I will take a look, for sure. But still, I have the job against Bournemouth to see what I have to show the players – still it’s not done. So I don’t know if I’ll have time, we’ll see.”
On Antoine Semenyo’s return to Bournemouth: “Hopefully he knows what we’re playing for.”
The last time the two sides met was in November 2025. On that occasion, City walked away 3-1 winners. A Haaland brace and a goal from Nico O’Reilly was enough on that occasion, with Tyler Adams scoring for the visitors.
Across 22 meetings with Manchester City, Bournemouth have won just once alongside two stalemates. The Cherries’ lone win came last season with a 2-1 triumph, courtesy of goals from Semenyo and Evanilson. Up until that match, City had won the previous 14 meetings.
In the Premier League, the two sides have met on 15 occasions with an aggregate score of 46-9 in favour of Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola offers major FA Cup final line-up hint with clear Bournemouth message
City’s 94.1% win rate in this fixture is the highest in any fixture between two sides in Premier League history.
Manchester City have failed to win in their last three visits to the south coast (Bournemouth, Brighton, Southampton); before this, they had only failed to win in three of the previous 24.
Bournemouth’s 16 game unbeaten streak is the highest in the Premier League this season.
Only Sergio Aguero has had more goal involvements in games away from home than Haaland’s 11 this season.
Prior to Bournemouth’s breakthrough 2024 victory, they had led for a combined total of just eight minutes across all league meetings with Manchester City, dating back to 1987.
In their head-to-head history, matches have averaged 3.1 goals per game when Manchester City plays away at Bournemouth’s ground.
If Eli Junior Kroupi scores on Tuesday night, he will become just the fourth teenager to score in four consecutive games in Premier League history. Notably, former City players Nicolas Anelka and Robbie Fowler achieved this.
For UK viewers, the game will be available to watch on Sky Sports, with radio coverage on BBC Radio 5 live.
For those watching from the USA, the match will be available on USA network and SiriusXM.
