Sky Germany report that Werder Bremen and RB Leipzig reached a full agreement on a six-month loan deal for the Portuguese striker. At Leipzig, the 29-year-old was the fourth-choice striker with Benjamin Šeško, Loïs Openda and Yussuf Poulsen ahead of him in the pecking order.

Earlier in the transfer market, his name was heavily linked with West Ham United. In the end, Graham Potter decided to sign a striker he knew too well from his Brighton spell, Evan Ferguson. The Republic of Ireland international was a subject of discussion at Bayer Leverkusen when Victor Boniface was on his way to Al-Nassr.

Andre Silva scored 40 Bundesliga goals in two seasons for Eintracht Frankfurt before his €23 million transfer to Leipzig in 2021. After a decent debut season, he struggled to break into Leipzig’s starting lineup under Marco Rose.

He hasn’t started a league game this season. After missing the past three weeks with a calf injury, he returned to the side in yesterday’s goalless draw at Union Berlin, but he finished the game as an unused sub.

Bremen boosted their European hopes with a hard-fought win over Mainz on Friday. Their talismanic striker Marvin Ducksch is expected to leave as a free agent this summer.
