Brentford face a fitness worry over Mikkel Damsgaard ahead of Saturday’s visit to Elland Road after the attacking midfielder went off in Monday’s 2-2 draw. He tried to continue but was replaced by Kristoffer Ajer.
“He will be a concern and I haven’t spoken to the medics yet. He had an injury a few weeks ago against Forest. It has been frustrating and he has played through a lot of pain, so we have to see how he is,” he told West London Sport.
Brentford led 2-0 inside 37 minutes through Michael Kayode and Igor Thiago, before Adam Armstrong replied before half-time. Tolu Arokodare levelled on 77 minutes.
Damsgaard has three goals and four assists in 26 Premier League outings, 18 of them starts. He played 30 minutes off the bench in December’s 1-1 draw with Leeds.
He suffered a knee issue at Forest on 25 January, missed one league game, then featured seven times since, completing 90 minutes twice.
He will be assessed later this week and could join a lengthy absentee list. Vitaly Janelt, Rico Henry and Aaron Hickey are out until after the March international break, while the season is likely over for Josh Dasilva, Antoni Milambo and Fabio Carvalho.
Brentford have won one of their last five in the league, a 4-3 at Burnley, and have drawn the past two. “We should have managed the game better and performed better in the second half.”
