Brentford Women Match Preview: Key league clashes await | OneFootball

Riding the wave of three-straight wins across all competitions, Brentford Women hit the road on Sunday to face Whyteleafe in London South East Division One action (3.30pm kick-off).

Since Brentford’s last defeat to Fulham on 2 February, the Bees have reeled off three-successive wins across the league and Capital Cup.

With fellow promotion challengers Bromley playing in cup action this weekend, a win at Whyteleafe Football Ground would see Karleigh Osborne’s side climb to first in the table with a game in hand.

Last time out

A mature performance saw Brentford claim all three points against Ashmount Leigh with a 3-0 win.

Ashley Cheatley was back in the starting line-up and scored on her return, Nikki Woods and Alissa Down also finding the back of the net in the win.

Previously against Whyteleafe, Osborne’s side dominated on their way to a 12-0 win at Bedfont Sports Club.

Paula Holguin and Woods led the way up front with a hat-trick each, Chloe Logie, Lucy Potter, Maddie Phillips, Samantha Read, Kirsty Matthews and Down each adding one goal.

About Whyteleafe

Despite having a strong 2023/24 season which saw them make the Trophy Cup final against the Bees, this campaign has been tougher for Whyteleafe.

They enter Sunday’s clash bottom of the table, with zero wins from their 16 league games.

After back-to-back scoreless games, they put in a strong display against Denham United last time out, however eventually fell to a 6-3 defeat.

The Bees have pulled off three-straight wins across Greater London Premier Division and JGMT Cup action, scoring 14 goals and allowing three in that period.

Sitting one point above the relegation zone with seven games to play, a win would play a huge part in helping the Bees stay up for another season.

Brentford secured their place in a JGMT Cup quarter-final with a 5-0 win over Hackney Women’s Reserves last time out.

Chelsie Berry starred with a brace, while Elsa Lesnard, Shaniya Mackenzie and Maria Barbosa each added a goal.

Last time out against Leyton Orient was an entertaining affair, the Bees falling to a 7-3 defeat away from home.

Berry again led the way that afternoon with two goals in the first half, while defender Lillie Elsbury added one. Three unanswered goals in the second half by Leyton Orient meant they took home all three points, however.

The O’s remain in the title hunt through 13 games as they enter Sunday’s clash second in the table with eight wins, one draw and four losses.

They have played the most games across the league so far this season, meaning title challengers Hammersmith, Tooting Bec and Camden Town each hold games in hand.

The new year has brought success for the O’s, their only loss through six games in 2025 coming against Tooting Bec in the Capital Cup.

Last time out they defeated Camden and Islington United 9-0 in league action, Jordan Feldman doubling her season goal tally with a hat-trick.
