Three months after Éric Roy’s death on 17 June, Stade Brestois will honour their former head coach when they host PSG on 13 September, the fourth round of the French top flight.
The club said in a statement that it wants the tribute to reflect the mark Roy left on Brest and the affection felt by his family, loved ones, staff and supporters.
Brest had initially considered staging the homage at the first games at Francis-Le Blé, but pre-season fixtures did not allow the Brest public to gather in the desired conditions.
In addition, the Quimper stand will be closed for the match against Toulouse FC due to a sanction linked to a massive use of pyrotechnic devices.
The club have therefore chosen to wait for PSG’s visit to best honour Roy’s memory on home soil.
