Evan Ferguson’s time at Roma appears to have come to an end.
His disappointing performance against Atalanta may have convinced the Giallorossi management to terminate the young striker’s loan.
However, Brighton, the club that owns the player, does not currently share this view.
Paul Barber, CEO of the Seagulls, clarified the situation: “It’s very unlikely he’ll return here now, I would say. We don’t have that option.”
“If he were to return, it would be because, for whatever reason, the club that currently owns him doesn’t need him.”
“At the moment, I would think that’s very unlikely. He’s playing well, scoring goals,” reports The Argus.
In reality, the Irish striker’s performance in this first half of the season has been anything but convincing.
In Serie A, he’s scored just two goals, and Gasperini has never missed an opportunity to tease the striker in front of the microphones, constantly urging him to do better.
Meanwhile, a new opportunity seems to be emerging with Real Betis, who could be interested in welcoming the 2004-born striker on another loan.
The Irish striker’s situation therefore remains uncertain, but the chances of him staying at Roma appear increasingly remote.
