Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Newcastle United forward Emily Murphy on a permanent deal.

The Seagulls announced the news via a post on their official club website earlier today.

Brighton & Hove Albion have paid an undisclosed fee to Newcastle United to secure the player’s services. The Magpies have reported that the transfer fee received has broken their club-record.

Murphy is a player with huge potential. After spending time in the Chelsea academy system, the player briefly broke into the first team. The forward went out on loan to Birmingham City to further her development before combining football with her studies in the United States.

The 23-year-old returned to England in early 2025 and she joined Newcastle United. Murphy went on to score nine goals in 37 outings for The Magpies in all competitions.

On the international stage, Murphy has been capped by the Republic of Ireland on 18 occasions while she has scored two goals.

After bringing Murphy to Brighton & Hove Albion, head coach Dario Vidošić said “Emily has shown that she has both a good eye for goal and the ability to provide for her teammates.

“She had a taste of WSL football with Chelsea before then, so she knows the standards that we will be demanding from her.

“Emily also adds good quality to an area we needed to strengthen, so I am excited to work with her.”

Murphy is Brighton & Hove Albion’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window.
