Brighton pulled off a late comeback to salvage a draw with Bournemouth.

The Cherries took a controverisal first-half lead when VAR awarded a penalty after Bart Verbruggen's foul on Amine Adli despite the forward initially being booked.

Marcus Tavernier converted from the spot with a clinical kick as the visitors began to dream of a first-ever Premier League double over their South Coast counterparts.

Evanilson looked set to double the lead for Andoni Iraola's side but saw his effort clip the inside of Verbruggen's far post after being played in by Álex Jiménez.

But the Seagulls rallied during the second half with a number of openings before Charalampos Kostoulas produced a late leveller with a sublime overhead kick.

The stalemate failed to improve either club's Premier League standing with the hosts remaining 12th while the Cherries are still three points adrift of them in 15th.
