Jordan James has excelled for the Foxes despite their well-documented plight
For Birmingham City and Leicester City supporters, the 2025/26 season has been one of intense disappointment when looking at the pre-season expectations which would have been set out by the respective fanbases.
Just 12 months ago, the Midlands outfits were two divisions apart for the first time in many years, with Birmingham sauntering to the League One title under ex-Foxes assistant manager, Chris Davies, whilst Leicester were relegated back to the Championship for the second time in three years under a backdrop of financial uncertainty.
Although it was well-documented that Leicester were not going to be given as much free rein in the transfer market this season as a result of their tricky situation, much was still expected of the East Midlands outfit when assessing their squad on paper, initially under Marti Cifuentes, as well as the calibre of players they were still able to recruit.
Birmingham, meanwhile, have flattered to deceive whilst Davies has continued to receive ample backing and support from Knighthead Capital Management when it comes to the funds at his disposal when it comes to transfer fees, as well as his managerial position, having been the subject of sack calls.
However, whilst Blues sit in mid-table, the Foxes are staring League One in the face for just the second time in their history, having endured a wretched run of form under the interim management of Gary Rowett, Andy King and, indeed, Cifuentes beforehand, as well as being hit with a six-point deduction for breaching PSR regulations.
It begs the question of how much earlier the club's fate would have been sealed were it not for the contributions of Stade Rennais loanee, Jordan James.
And, given the fact it would take a miracle for the Welsh international to return to the King Power Stadium, Football League World's Birmingham City fan pundit, Jason Moore, has urged his club to look into a reunion with the Wast Hills academy graduate.

James, as previously mentioned, was a product of Blues' youth setup and went on to make 105 appearances for the club, scoring 10 times before making an £8m move to the French Ligue 1 side ahead of last season.
Indeed, the Hereford native is enduring a similar season, all things considered, to when he suffered relegation with the Second City side two years ago, in which he netted eight times in 42 appearances and was given a nomination at the EFL Awards for the Championship's Young Player of the Season.
However, it was recently confirmed that the 21-year-old had won said award for 2025/26 having racked up a double-figure tally of goal contributions, emerging as one of very few bright sparks for Leicester in the process.
As such, despite previously being against the idea of a reunion with James, Moore admits he has reversed his opinion.
"I have quite openly said whenever I've been asked this question, 'no, don't get him'," Moore told FLW. "I'm going to turn my opinion around and say I was wrong.
"I always said I didn't know what his best position was, but make no doubt about it, he's been absolutely quality and he works hard in, let's be honest, an awful Leicester team as far as their attitude's concerned.
"He's been quality. If Blues could make it happen, I'd snap your hands off and bring him back," he claimed.
"He brings energy - which he had at Blues - but now he's learnt what his game is, he's bringing goals.
"It doesn't matter who you are, if you bring goals, you win games.
"If Blues could make a deal happen for Jordan James, bring him back, and I'll happily sit there if anyone wants to give me anything for my (previous) opinion on him, I'll take it, because he's looked quality this season," Moore explained.
"I'd have him back at Blues in a heartbeat."

James has clearly come on even more leaps and bounds since leaving Blues, where he still emerged with plenty of credit, and his attributes would suit their midfield down to the ground at this point.
In particular, it remains to be seen what occurs with Wolves loanee, Tommy Doyle, especially now his parent club have seen their relegation back to the Championship rubber-stamped, as well as who could be in charge of Birmingham next season, with FLW exclusively revealing that a move for Thomas Frank could be plotted by Knighthead if Davies is sacked.
James previously admitted that a move to Rennes proved difficult to begin with, but also helped him add physicality to his game, meaning Blues would be getting a slightly different player than beforehand if they were able to strike a permanent or loan move with the Brittany-based side.
